In 2020 and 2021, in the absence of exams, students were awarded grades determined by the exam boards that were based on Centre Assessed Grades provided by the school. Although students performed well, it is not appropriate to publish detailed comparisons with previous years.
In 2022, grade boundaries applied to exam performance were more generous to take account of the disruption to education suffered by students in the cohort.
Given the uneven impact of the pandemic on school and college performance data, the government has said you should not make direct comparisons between the performance data for one school or college and another, or to data from previous years.
