We have a well developed Careers Programme delivered through the Personal Development scheme designed to encourage student s to develop the skills, attitudes and understanding of the world of work and the factors involved in their future.
At all transition and option choice points, students and parents/carers are fully supported by staff by means of information evenings, careers fair, assemblies, subject guidance talks and option process evening.
Students in year 11 have 1- 1 impartial personal careers guidance through our Directions Advisor. Those in years 9 and 10 have group sessions with the opportunity for 1-1 if required.
Alec Hunter has a careers library which is available for students to use to research careers information. Within the Careers library students can also find out about 6th Form College courses as well as different Apprenticeships and be supported with applications and CVs.
Raising the Participation Age
RPA is a government policy which increases the minimum age at which young people in England can leave learning. It means from summer 2013 you will be required to participate in education, training or employment with training until the end of the academic year in which you turn 17 and from summer 2015 onwards until your 18th birthday.
