We welcomed theatre group ‘Alter Ego’ on Monday 27th January who performed ‘Breaking the Chain’ to Year 7 and 8 students. The drama performance is designed to raise awareness, kick-start conversations and build resilience around youth violence, and to educate students of the implications of knife crime.
As well as highlighting the fears and pressures linked to knife crime, the performance also promoted the importance of seeking help, and signposted who to speak to for advice.
The feedback was fantastic, with students commenting the performance was really entertaining to watch, with excellent actors who really engaged with the audience. Many thought the performance was eye-opening and gave them lots to think about, and having Essex Police and staff on hand to answer any questions was a great way to build more awareness.
